Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of stepdiagnostics.com, its public content, and its early-access and contact features. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Last updated:

STEP Diagnostics is currently a project based in North Carolina, USA. The legal business structure is being established.

Current product status

The public site provides information about STEP Diagnostics, a diagnostic-content library, and a way to request early access. STEP is not yet a generally available production diagnostic service. Joining the waitlist does not create an account, guarantee access, establish a launch date, reserve a price, or obligate either you or STEP Diagnostics to enter into a paid relationship.

Product descriptions, planned features, coverage, availability, and pricing may change as the product is tested and developed. A separate agreement may apply if you are invited into an early-access, trial, shop, or enterprise program.

Informational and professional-use boundary

Public diagnostic guides and other site content are provided for general informational and educational purposes. They are not a final diagnosis, repair authorization, safety instruction, or substitute for:

  • professional training and judgment;
  • inspection and testing of the actual vehicle;
  • current service information for the exact vehicle;
  • manufacturer procedures, warnings, and technical service bulletins;
  • equipment instructions; or
  • applicable laws, regulations, and workplace requirements.

You are responsible for confirming vehicle applicability, deciding whether a test is safe and appropriate, performing the work correctly, and verifying the result. Stop and seek qualified help when the work exceeds your training, tools, equipment, or working conditions.

No diagnostic or professional relationship

Using the public site or sending a form does not create a mechanic-client, engineering, consulting, fiduciary, or other professional relationship. STEP Diagnostics does not inspect your vehicle through the public site and does not guarantee that public content identifies the cause of a fault.

Acceptable use

You may use the public site for lawful personal or business evaluation. You may not:

  • interfere with the site's operation or security;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to non-public systems, accounts, data, or diagnostic cases;
  • introduce malicious code or use the site to harm another person or system;
  • misrepresent your identity or authority when submitting a request;
  • submit another person's confidential or personal information without authorization;
  • reproduce or redistribute substantial parts of the site as a competing database or service; or
  • use the site in violation of applicable law or third-party rights.

These restrictions do not prohibit ordinary linking, quotation permitted by law, or legitimate search engine indexing of public pages.

Intellectual property

The STEP Diagnostics name, site design, original text, graphics, software, and organization of content are owned by or licensed to STEP Diagnostics and are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.

Vehicle manufacturer names, product names, diagnostic codes, and third-party trademarks belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation.

Feedback

If you voluntarily provide suggestions about the STEP product, you allow STEP Diagnostics to use those suggestions to evaluate and improve the product without an obligation to compensate you. This does not give STEP Diagnostics ownership of your personal information, confidential business information, or diagnostic case data.

Do not submit confidential information unless a separate written agreement authorizes it.

Third-party services and links

The site may link to or rely on third-party services. STEP Diagnostics does not control third-party sites and is not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. Your use of a third-party service may be governed by its own terms.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the public site and its content are provided as is and as available, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, diagnostic outcome, or repair result.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, STEP Diagnostics will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, vehicle damage, replacement parts, towing, downtime, business interruption, personal injury, or other loss arising from reliance on the public site or inability to use it.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Changes and availability

We may update, suspend, or remove public content and features. We may revise these Terms by posting an updated version with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where the mandatory law of your location applies.

Venue: State and federal courts located in North Carolina
