Start by proving the fault is actually present. Clear the DTCs with the HDS. Turn the vehicle to ON mode and wait for 10 seconds, then check DTCs again with the HDS. If B0011-13 comes right back, the failure is duplicated and you can move into circuit testing. If it does not come back, treat it as an intermittent condition for now. And if some other code is present, check what that code means first instead of forcing this diagnostic path.

Substitute the passenger inflator with the simulator

Next, isolate the front passenger airbag inflator from the rest of the circuit. Turn the vehicle to OFF, disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, and wait at least 3 minutes. Lower the glove box, then disconnect the front passenger airbag inflator 4P connector on the dashboard wire harness. Connect SRS simulator lead J to the SRS inflator simulator using the 2 Ω connectors, then connect simulator lead J to that front passenger airbag inflator 4P connector on the dashboard wire harness. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery. Clear the DTCs with the HDS. Turn the vehicle to ON mode, wait for 10 seconds, and check DTCs again.

Read the simulator result

If B0011-13 is no longer indicated with the simulator installed, the path points to an open in the front passenger airbag inflator, and the supported repair is to replace the front passenger airbag, then clear the DTC. If B0011-13 is still indicated with the simulator in place, keep going. At that point the concern is farther back in the circuit, so move into the open-wire check for the RA1+, RA1-, RA2+, and RA2- lines.

Check the harness side for an open

For the open-wire check, turn the vehicle to OFF. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery and wait at least 3 minutes. Then disconnect SRS unit connector A, the 39P connector. Now remove the SRS inflator simulator from SRS simulator lead J, but leave SRS simulator lead J connected to the front passenger airbag inflator 4P connector on the dashboard wire harness. With the vehicle OFF, the passenger inflator 4P connector disconnected from the airbag side, SRS unit connector A disconnected, and simulator lead J still tied into the dashboard harness connector, measure resistance at the test points. The decision point is 1.0 Ω or less.

Use the resistance result to finish the fault path

If the resistance is 1.0 Ω or less, the RA1+, RA1-, RA2+, and RA2- wires are considered OK. That leaves a possible SRS unit issue or a poor connection at SRS unit connector A and the SRS unit. Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If it is not the latest version, update the software and retest. If the connector connection checks OK and the SRS unit path is still supported, replace the SRS unit. If the DTC still does not clear after that, the supported next repair is the dashboard wire harness. If the resistance is not 1.0 Ω or less, the path points to an open in the dashboard wire harness. The supported repair is to replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
