With IG mode ON, check the IG2_OPTION circuit. Normal is 12 V battery voltage. Then turn IG mode OFF and check the ground open-wire condition. Normal is less than 1 Ω. With IG mode still OFF, check the BUS-DATA open-wire condition. Normal is also less than 1 Ω. For the shorted-circuit side, use the proper open-and-short inspection method, then with IG mode OFF check BUS-DATA shorted to ground. Normal is more than 1 MΩ. If any part of the IG2_OPTION, ground, or BUS-DATA inspection is abnormal, the fault is in that circuit. If the power supply check is abnormal, continue with the additional power supply inspection to locate the failure.
Climate control switch check
If the circuit inspections do not point you to a wiring problem, move to the climate control switch check. There is no direct test method for that inspection item, so the procedure uses a known-good climate control switch and then attempts to reproduce the failure. If the failure is still reproduced with the known-good switch installed, the problem is in other related components. If the symptom or DTC goes away, the climate control switch is considered faulty.
Climate control unit decision
Only after the other inspection items have shown normal should you make the climate control unit call. At that point, the remaining climate control unit is determined to be the cause, and the condition is identified as a problem with the climate control unit.
