Turn the vehicle to ON mode. Press the brake pedal, then shift the transmission to D position or D mode. Now watch the HDS Forward Switch, labeled ATPFWD. If ATPFWD shows OFF while the transmission is in D position or mode, the failure is duplicated and you move into circuit testing.
Set up the open-wire checks
With the failure duplicated, disconnect the transmission range switch 16P connector. Then disconnect ICM connector A, the 28P connector. Perform the ATP-FWD, or ATPFWD, open-wire inspection with both connectors disconnected. The normal condition is less than 1 Ω. Then perform the PG open-wire inspection the same way. If the circuit checks normal
If the other inspection items show normal, the diagnostic path moves to the ICM inspection determination. At that point, with the circuit checks normal, the remaining diagnostic result is a problem with the ICM.
